Health Education

Let’s get healthy, Rockingham County!  Come and join the Rockingham County Literacy Project for fun and informative ways on how to live a healthy life.  Staying Healthy and Project SHINE are two curriculums that are being offered to the students at the RCLP.  These curriculums are a guide to health care and healthy living.  These programs will also enhance students’ understanding of the health information, while at the same time improving their English language and literacy skills.  As the health educator, I will be able to provide you with significant information on a variety of health topics including:  nutrition, exercise, health care, reading medicine and food labels, chronic and infectious diseases, smoking cessation, along with many others.  The class sessions are interactive and discussion based, as well as including practice with reading and writing related to health literacy.  The Rockingham County Literacy Project had the grand opportunity to incorporate a health education program into the literacy project through a grant from the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust made available through the Rockingham County Healthcare Alliance.

This is a FREE program offered through the Rockingham County Literacy Project with the class schedule listed below:

Tuesday:
10:30-11:30 a.m. and 6:00-7:00 p.m.
(for English Learners only)
2:00-3:00 p.m.
(for those who speak English as their first language) 

Wednesday:
1:00-2:00 p.m. and 3:30-4:30 p.m.
(for those who speak English as their first language)
